Increase Donations on Your Website, Now!

How many donations did the donations page on your website pull in last week?

The donations page is another one of those pages that used to fall under the “process” side of the website. “Make sure it works!” So even though the page is “functional”, it doesn't mean that it works.

Once again I asked a YMCA client, “How many donations did the donations page on your website pull in last week?” Do you mean last week or forever? I don’t remember the last time someone just went to our donation page and made a donation.

For me it meant it was time to once again summon the yTeam and figure out how we could improve the results of the Donation page for our YMCAs. While membership revenues are important part of the YMCA revenue stream, donations are a way to infuse your business with cash NOW!

We decided to make the donations amounts more prominent. Condense the information to make it easier to read. Use hidden fields so the text only displays to people interested in the topic. Auto fill the donation amount into the checkout. Check out the new page with this link.

Everybody claims to build great websites. The question is “great websites according to whom?” To me, a great website is one that constantly gets better based on client feedback. There is a big difference between a site that “works” and a site that “works right”.

If you want to know how to get more donations from your website, give me a call at 419-776-7000 x200. Or email me. Or just give me a call to talk. I would love to hear from you.

“Social business lies in the spectrum of possibility between the traditional, profit-maximizing business, which directs little to no profit to doing good, and the traditional charity, which relies mostly on donations to sustain itself.”  - Leila Janah
