Changes You Should Know About Facebook Ads

Posted by Brittany Norton on Mon, Jun 30, 2014 @ 03:18 PM

It seems like Facebook will be changing the way the right hand column ads look. The ads take up more real estate now and are much easier to read. Before, the image used for the right hand column ads was small and sometimes difficult to recognize.

These larger ads will give businesses the opportunity to use a larger image, possibly the same number of characters for text and a URL. Could this be where Facebook is taking their ads? Screen Shot 2014 06 27 at 4.52.50 PM

With the creation of news feed ads, the right hand column ads have suffered. They do not have nearly as much traffic, clicks or impressions and they are difficult to read at times. These newer ads will resemble the new feeds ones - just on the right side.

I have not noticed the change in the ads manager, but this could be some beta testing from Facebook to see how well those ads are received. I do have to say that I approve of these ads. Often times, I turn the right hand column ads off because I know they will not have as much attention as the news feed. The set back to ads is if your client does not have a Facebook page, but wants to run Facebook ads. The right hand column ads are their only choice.

I'm intrigued Facebook, show me more!

We will stay tuned to see how Facebook plans to take ads to the next level and change their look. What do you think of the potential new right hand column ads?

Very, very interesting changes to ads and posts within the news feed. Watch this video from Facebook about how ads work: Making Ads Better and Giving You More Control.
