Seems to be that Facebook is pushing for all personal Facebook accounts to be in the same layout as the Business Pages. The new Pages layout is due to switch over, for all pages, on March 28th. The new personal Facebook layout change? Well....
Looks just like the regular pages layout Facebook plans on rolling out across all pages on March 28th - not too bad. It looks a little bit like old school Facebook if you ask me but there are some definite differences.
There were also some changes to the newsfeed layout as well.....
Some noticeable differences:
- Trending feed: That section has been there for weeks but still an interesting little section of the newfeed.
- Ads manager is now accessible from the newsfeed without having to go to the dropdown menu. Interesting placement Facebook....
- Newsfeed can now be listed as either Top Stories or Most Recent.
- Welcome section listed on the left hand column above Newsfeed. It has a basic rundown of Facebook, how to add more friends, change your default information etc.
I don't quite know how I feel about this layout yet but I am leaning towards....meh. It is nice that Facebook wants to keep it exciting and change things around every once in awhile so people who are chronic Facebookers don't get bored and go elsewhere, but some of these changes just seem like a stab in the dark and lazy beta testing.
