In actuality Twitter is a great way to hit tons of people at one time with a quick, short and sweet message. Twitter is now allowing brands to promote their account as well as specific tweets. This can help with the number of impressions as well as gaining more followers. 

Twitter has jumped on the advertising bandwagon and depending on the budget you set, you could pay between $0.01 and $1.25 (give or take) per new follower that you get from your promoted account. On the advertising page brands can either promote their account or promote specific tweets. With a promoted account, it will show up on the left hand side in the suggested 'who to follow' box. 

Promoted tweets will be chosen by Twitter - the ones that are considered the most engaging tweets will be promoted. The yellow arrow and the word 'Promoted' will appear under each tweet that Twitter pulls. Here is what the 'who to follow' box looks like with a promoted account in it:

We did a test run with one of our Twitter accounts and set the daily budget at $5 which equals out to about $150 a month. When you first sign up with Twitter ads, a $100 credit to your account is to be paid first. Then you can go into the settings and target specific users by regions, for example Detroit, Toledo or Cleveland are just some of the region options. We only ran a test on promoting the account to see how well it worked and if we would be able to get a decent amount of followers for a months time. Picture 1For even as little as $5 a day, you could get followers just from promoting your account on Twitter. Yes you are paying for followers, but you are simply letting users on Twitter know that you account exists. Try it out! You might like the results you get.
