Be A Mobile Friendly YMCA Part 2

Posted by Ian Hartten on Wed, May 16, 2012 @ 12:27 PM

Mobile marketing has branched out in many different ways and is now dominating how people are getting their information while they are on the go. According to a whitepaper by Nielsen and Les Mills, fitness and technology are merging. When connecting with technology, there is a permanent connection. Technology is “always on” so there is a constant connection - whether it is through internet, apps or mobile. People today are always on the go and use their mobile devices to stay updated on current events. This is where your YMCA can connect members with current events.

Set up a text update that members can subscribe to. They can send a text to a predetermined number - where their number is now in a database. Use the database to send reminder texts to members who want to stay in the news about what their local YMCA is doing.

Here are a few ideas on how to jumpstart a mobile campaign:

1. Campaign kick-offs

2. Upcoming Fitness Classes

3. Reminders for events

4. Pool closing times/Holiday & Seasonal times/Weather closings

5. New registration periods

6. Opportunities to save money when signing up for programs

These are just a few opportunities your YMCA can take to engage your members outside of the facility. Members will appreciate staying connected. These opportunties will provide members with the information that they want to know.
